Today we had Monkey's 15 month appointment (at 15 1/2 months) and it went pretty well. Monkey is now 26.6 lbs (76th percentile), 30.75 inches tall (26th percentile), and has a head circumference of 46.75 cm (36th percentile). All those numbers are great! He also had 2 shots and a blood draw to check for lead. Everything looks and sounds good. The only thing the Pediatrician was concerned about was Monkey's lack of verbal communication. He just doesn't talk. He doesn't say any words. So she gave us a referral for Early Childhood Intervention. We're debating wether or not to go.
You see, Monkey signs a bit. He signs "more" but uses it for everything, basically uses it to say "yes". Tonight he did sign "milk" and we were encouraged. He also signs "all done" and has TRIED to say it but it comes out all slurred. :) I think we'll give it to 18 months and if he still isn't at least saying "Mom" and "Dad" (and using them properly) then we'll look into the Early Intervention. So everything is pretty good. :) Now he's sleeping peacefully in his crib (which I'm worried is going to become too small before he's ready for the twin bed, but that's another story) and he looks so sweet over the monitor I could almost go in there and pick him up and cuddle him. I won't of course b/c that would be silly. :)
